Adele & Jack planned a super intimate wedding day with just 10 people in total! It is such a privilege to be booked as the photographer for an intimate wedding, as this is a really special event.
The whole wedding day was at Voco St David's Cardiff, which is a really great venue. The event staff there are really helpful and attentive, and they hold a lot of weddings from intimate gatherings like this, right up to large-scale events with hundreds of guests. The best thing about this venue though is the stunning view overlooking the water.
These two are such a beautiful couple, and here are their moments from the day...

Top Tips for a Wedding at Voco St David’s, Cardiff
If you’re planning your wedding at Voco St David’s in Cardiff, you’ve chosen one of the most striking venues in Wales. Overlooking Cardiff Bay, this contemporary hotel combines luxury, light, and sweeping water views with the convenience of a city location. Here are some top tips to make the most of it.
1. Embrace the views and natural light. The venue is designed around its views, with floor-to-ceiling windows and open terraces that fill the rooms with natural light. Work with your photographer to capture shots that include the bay, especially in the late afternoon when the light softens across the water. The Dylan Thomas Suite is particularly beautiful for bright, airy portraits.
2. Use indoor and outdoor spaces. Voco St David’s gives you the flexibility to combine indoor elegance with outdoor charm. You can hold your ceremony in one of the light-filled suites and then move to the terrace for drinks or photos overlooking the bay. Plan how you’ll move between spaces so the day flows smoothly for you and your guests.
3. Build extra time into your schedule. Because the venue offers so many beautiful photo locations, it’s worth adding a little extra time to your schedule. Allow your photographer to make the most of the indoor and outdoor backdrops without feeling rushed. The best images often happen in those calm, unplanned moments.
4. Plan for your guests’ experience. With over 140 bedrooms on site, Voco St David’s makes guest logistics simple. Encourage your guests to stay overnight to avoid travel stress. The hotel has good parking and drop-off access, but it’s worth providing clear directions in your invitations so everyone arrives smoothly.
5. Work closely with the wedding team. The in-house coordinators at Voco St David’s know the venue inside out. Share your vision early and let them guide you on timings, layout, and supplier access. Their experience can help make sure every detail runs perfectly on the day.
6. Keep your styling simple. The interiors and architecture are already striking, so let them shine. Choose décor that complements the clean, modern design. Soft florals, elegant lighting, and neutral tones work beautifully against the bright spaces and water views.
7. Prepare for all weather. The waterfront setting is stunning but can be breezy. Have a plan for both sunshine and showers, whether that’s parasols, wraps, or an indoor photo plan. The indoor suites are just as photogenic, so even if the weather turns, your photos will still look incredible.
Final thought: Voco St David’s offers everything you need for a stylish, modern wedding with unforgettable views. With thoughtful planning and a focus on the light, space, and surroundings, your day will feel relaxed, luxurious, and full of those natural, joy-filled moments that make wedding photos so memorable.
