Jake & Natalie wished to capture some wedding photos at luxury wedding venue Bovey Castle in Dartmoor. With personal connections and love of the Devon area, they travelled from Hong Kong to visit and we captured these classic english wedding moments, prior to their offical wedding in Hong Kong later this year.
It's no surprise that Dartmoor is a hugely popular destination or elopement wedding location for couple's from overseas. Bovey Castle sits within it, featuring traditional English interiors with a luxury edge, a fabulous location for large scale weddings or smaller elopement events. They wanted photos with the unique castle elements; a combination of natural moments and a little bit of editioral photography.
It was one of the most rainy days of the year in March. With no chance of letting up, armed with umbrellas, Natalie & Jake braved the wind and cold rain in their wedding attire for some stunning images! These are some of their highlights, shot on mostly digital and a few analogue 35mm photography (shot on portra film) too.
To create some more unusual images I added a pop of direct flash to highlight the wild rainy weather whilst still photographing the wedding couple in with their background of the castle as requested.
Even if you do have a winter wedding at Bovey castle, the venue and grounds (and local area), allow so much scope for striking photography even with torrential rain all day. Huge thanks to Jake & Natalie for braving the rain here to allow me to create some wonderful classic English wedding photos for them!
