Abby & Michele wanted a half-day photography cover for their wedding to capture the main key elements of their rustic Cornwall wedding. With links to Cornwall, both lovers of the water, they married in Fowey registry office (Fowey town hall) and then took boats across the short river to their lovely farm reception.
Abby chose the most beautiful mermaid-inspired wedding dress. I adore an unusual outfit or elements that are unique to the couple! They also had edible chocolate seashells with their (three!) cakes, along with obviously travelling by boat across to their reception for an extra fun coastal addition.
With Michele's family travelling from Italy to be there, it was a very special day with lots of new connections being made between the families and all the fun vibes to be around!

If you're looking for a photographer for your Cornwall/Devon or coastal wedding, get in touch! As an ocean lover myself, I absolutely love shooting ocean inspired weddings, so if you think we're a good match, I'd love to hear from you.

Top Tips for Wedding Photography in Fowey, Cornwall
Fowey is one of Cornwall’s most picturesque coastal towns, full of charm, winding streets, and sea views that make it a dream setting for wedding photography. Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement or a full coastal celebration, this beautiful harbour town offers endless opportunities for relaxed, natural, and memorable photos. Here are some top tips to make the most of your wedding photography in Fowey.
1. Plan around the tides and light. The light in Fowey changes throughout the day, and the tides can transform the look of the harbour in minutes. Work with your photographer to plan key shots around the tide times and golden hour. Early morning and late afternoon light are softer and ideal for portraits by the water.
2. Make use of the coastline. Fowey is surrounded by scenic coastal paths, quiet coves, and clifftop views. Take a short walk after your ceremony or sneak away during golden hour for photos overlooking the estuary. The combination of dramatic sea views and calm harbourside moments gives your gallery a stunning variety.
3. Capture the town’s charm. The cobbled streets, pastel cottages, and colourful boats all add character to your photos. A stroll through town can create some of the most natural, storytelling images. If you’re staying locally, even the walk from your accommodation to the venue can offer lovely candid moments.
4. Have a wet-weather plan. Cornish weather can be unpredictable, but that’s part of its charm. Bring clear umbrellas and embrace the moody skies if they appear; they often make for atmospheric, cinematic photos. If rain looks likely, identify a few covered spots around your venue or the harbour for backup portraits.
5. Keep travel simple. Fowey’s narrow streets and limited parking can make logistics tricky. Allow extra time for moving between venues or photo locations. If you’re heading to the beach or cliffs, pack practical shoes and keep a wrap or jacket handy for breezier spots.
6. Include local touches. Fowey has a distinct Cornish charm. Incorporate small local details, such as sea-inspired florals, Cornish pasties for canapés, or a harbour-view toast, to tie your images and your day to the location. These details help tell the full story of your wedding.
7. Relax and enjoy the scenery. The best wedding photos in Fowey come from moments when couples are simply enjoying being together. Take a deep breath, enjoy the sea air, and let the day unfold naturally. Your photographer will capture those genuine smiles and quiet moments that make the day uniquely yours.
Final thought. Fowey offers a mix of beauty, history, and natural charm that few places can match. By planning around the light, embracing the setting, and staying flexible, you’ll capture a set of wedding photographs that reflect both the romance of the coast and the joy of your celebration.
